FEA Modelling of Blast, Shock and Impact Events
Finite Element Analysis
There is a great deal of interest in the response of materials and structures to blast, shock and high speed impact events. Here at Double Precision, our associates have extensive experience in these areas, having been involved in the development of experimental test programmes and numerical models for monitoring and predicting material behaviour under blast and high speed impact. Much of this work has been undertaken in the Gordon Laboratory (Materials Science Department, University of Cambridge, UK), either independently or in collaboration with organisations such as DSTL (the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) and TenCate.
We build comprehensive finite element models that account for elasticity, plasticity, high strain rate plasticity, damage and fracture using classical continuum methods as well as smoothed particle hydrodynamic methods when appropriate.
We are able to offer our clients novel solutions to their most complicated challenges.
