Finite Element Predictions of Temperature Transients in Thermal Barriers
Finite Element Analysis
Our client needs to be able to predict temperatures and temperature transients inside thermal barrier systems in order to protect sensitive electronic equipment. There are a number of variables that can be altered including geometrical dimensions and material properties. They need to be able to run these simulations in-house as and when needed.
We built a fully parameterised heat transfer model (including phase-change materials) and an accompanying Simulation Application that our client can use internally. The Simulation Application allows our client to alter geometries and material properties and to assess (in response to customer enquiries) the suitability of their equipment for intended applications. We also validated our models with experiments. The agreement had a maximum error that was less than 2%!
Our client has an internal capability that allows them to respond to enquiries quickly and efficiently, without recourse to costly and time-consuming experiments.
